Liebster Award - Discover New Blogs

I was ever so kindly nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Sam from Oh! Hello. The purpose of the award is to spread a bit of blogger love to those with under 200 followers. Where these followers are is a little ambiguous, so I'm going with Bloglovin'.  From a nosy point of view, it is a great way to find out more about bloggers too!

The rules of this award are:

1. Thank/link the blogger that nominated you.
2. Give 11 random facts about yourself.
3. Answer the 11 questions that they have written for you.
4. Nominate other bloggers with under 200 followers who you believe deserves the award.
5. Post 11 questions for your nominees to answer & let them know that they have been selected.

11 random facts about myself:

1.  I was probably the world's worst vegetarian.  I lasted 3 months!

2.  One of the most common things that I get asked when I first meet someone is, 'Oh aren't you tall?!'  Yes, yes I am.  I'm 5'11.

3.  I play violin and piano and actually taught both for a year when I was at college.

4.  My all time favourite TV programme is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

5.  I don't really read books, much to the dismay of many.  It takes a very special book to get me hooked.

6.  I am ridiculously untidy.  I do believe the term 'floordrobe' was first used to describe my teenage bedroom.

7.  I absolutely love climbing trees, although I'm not quite as good as I was when I was younger.  Doesn't stop me trying though!

8.  My favourite animals are probably otters and goats.

9.  I love the smell of cherries.  I have the black cherry Yankee candle and it smells just like the 'crazy cherry' Hubba Bubba gum I used to adore as a kid.

10.  My favourite city that I have ever been to is San Francisco, such an amazing place.

11.  I like a lot of different types of music, but my favourite is rock.

Questions from Sam:

1. What's your favourite thing about where you live?

Most definitely the proximity to the Peak District.  It completely fuels my love of walking, exploring and spending time outdoors.  Plus it is absolutely beautiful!

2. Do you prefer Winter or Summer? Why?

Pretty tough question actually, I do love summer for many reasons, but I think winter would pip it at the post.  A few reasons why are:
  • I get my birthday and Christmas in the same month!
  • I have a serious jumper and cardigan obsession which can only be indulged in the cold.
  • I naturally don't like the heat, which probably explains why I want to swim constantly in the summer.
  • Snow!
3. High heels or flats?

I live in converse, but find the the aghast looks I get from people when I go out in 4 inch heels absolutely hilarious.

4. Do you prefer relaxing or adventurous weekends?

Adventurous for sure!  Most of the time I get grumpy if I'm not doing something.

5. What is your favourite dessert?

What a cruel question to ask someone who is trying to cut out sugar ;)  Probably white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake...or banoffee pie...or triple chocolate brownies, gah!!

6. If you could invite any 3 people (from any time or any place) to a dinner party, who would you choose and why?

Choosing 3 is hard, but off the top of my head I would choose:
Bill Bailey, because he has the best and weirdest sense of humour.
Joss Whedon, because he created Buffy and he is an amazing and intelligent person.
Kristen Wiig, because she is hilarious!

7. Do you have any allergies?

Only to lack of chocolate.

8. What is your favourite thing about yourself?

Probably being good at cooking, because I love the looks on people's faces when they enjoy what I've made for them.

9. Do you have a goal or something you want to achieve before the end of the year?

Ideally to be successful in my work.  That is the ultimate aim.

10. What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

You are worth so much more than you believe you are.

11. What are your plans for the rest of the day?

Draw, make lots of lists, plan work type things and probably play Zombies!!! with Kyle.  Friday night, so hardcore.

Nominations:

Rosie from Rosedog & Co
Emily from A Lively Blend
Shannon from Wildflowers Blog
Jesse from Hecticophilia

My 11 questions:

1.  What has been your highlight of 2014 so far?
2.  What is your spirit animal?
3.  Do you have any guilty pleasures?
4.  If you could be any fictional character, who would you pick and why?
5.  What song have you been listening to the most recently?
6.  Do you have a phobia?
7.  What is one item of clothing you couldn't live without?
8.  Do you have a party trick?
9.  What was your first ever CD you bought yourself?
10.  If you owned a pub, what would you name it?
11.  What is your dream destination?

Well that was lengthy!  I hope you enjoyed reading some random facts about me (if you got this far) and also that you find some new blogs to follow.  Don't forget to check out Sam's blog too!

  2. What a great read Anya, it was fab getting to know you better. I attempted to learn the violin when I was about 14 but I was SO SO bad! My parents tried to get me to stick at it until I bought my violin home to practice x
