Letting Go of Summer

Summer seems to have struggled to let go of us as much as I've struggled to let go of summer.  I usually welcome the autumn in all of its leaf-kicking and hot chocolate-drinking glory, however this September has certainly been warmer than your average and has left me still feeling rather summery. Today was the first day that I genuinely felt chilly and really noticed how many of the leaves have already fallen, so I felt it fitting to post one last hurrah from the summer with a few especially summery seaside pictures from my trip to Dorset at the end of August.

I find it so comforting looking back through these photographs as to me, they really epitomise a relaxed and happy summer.  I'm grateful that it lasted this long as sometimes in England we barely even get a month of warm weather, so I feel as though I've really made the most of it all.

I am currently listening to the wind howl through my windows whilst wrapped up in a big woolly jumper and am now feeling as though I can finally let go of summer.  Bring on the pumpkins, hot drinks, fireworks and bonfires!

  1. ohhh, summer is nice, but autumn has its own beauty and rituals and (the best) food. so envious of you right now, cozied up in a sweater. it's 85 degrees where I am all year round, which is nice at first, but you learn to pine for the seasons after awhile! thanks so much for sharing these darling snaps! that golden lab is adorable.

  3. I don't think summer has completely gone here yet. We had nice hot days last week, now it's cold but today it was back to being sunny and warm... I think we are in the transition period

  8. Oh. I am officially homesick. [How can a brooding sky like the one you captured, so beautifully, in the photo of the lilting sailboats cause tears to flow do freely down my cheeks?]
