October Ramblings

October, possibly one of my favourite months of the year.   A time when I get so unbelievably excited for Halloween and get possibly a little too into planning my annual party and costume.  I didn't get to celebrate last year which was a real shame, so I feel rather pent up with extra Halloween-induced excitement this time around and of course, will be fuelling it into a whole host of themed blog posts.

Another thing that I love about this month is watching the landscape change and my favourite way of doing this is by rambling in the countryside to my heart's content.  My life has been lacking in country ramblings recently with starting a new job and trying to juggle that around Kyle's work and other boring day-to-day life things, so I was very happy to get out of the city and to see how the trees and plants were all starting to change.

This particular walk is a favourite of ours because it is very easy and requires little to no concentration, so we can chat away about life, the universe and everything.  We in fact ramble whilst rambling.  I only ever really get distracted by wildlife and nature and embarrassingly often resemble Doug from Up.

No squirrels on this walk unfortunately, although there were some mighty mushrooms and I'm not ashamed to say that I am partial to some fungus-spotting, I like to indulge my inner mycologist on occasion.  I'm currently trying to learn much more about mushrooms as well as other plants that I could forage for, although whether I would ever feel confident enough to eat a mushroom I'd picked is another thing entirely.  I love the idea of finding my own wild food and also it satisfies my not quite so inner cheapskate.

Apologies for this stream of consciousness blog post, for some actual content here are some of my autumnal and Halloween-inspired posts and recipes from the past:

  2. Oh your photography is so good, sucks me right in every single time. I am loving the changing of seasons also, but not so much Halloween. It's a little crazy, but I do not like it, and seriously don't enjoy costumes, sorry! I want to love it:)
