It's OK

Today I thought I would share a post a little different from the usual, which is something that has been playing on my mind recently.  Whilst blogs quite often are spaces for escapism, sometimes it is good to share real human experiences and thoughts, as this is what sets blogs written by individuals apart from corporations and companies.

The media tells us so often that we need to change, be it our attitudes, bodies and clothes, that when you feel differently to what is seemingly the norm, you question whether it is OK to think or feel that way.  It is nice to know that you aren't on your own.

It's OK

It's OK to worry about life and death,
To fear time ticking away.
It's OK to dream big, as big as you'd like,
Or to plan your path down to the day.

It's OK not to know who you want to be,
No matter how old you grow.
It's OK to be different, not one of the crowd,
All the same is boring you know.

It's OK to have an opinion,

A set of beliefs and a voice.
It's OK to do what you want with your body,
It is and always will be your choice.

It's OK to smile for completely no reason,

To get joy from the smallest of things.
It's OK to still ache from all your past hurts,
To cry when so much of it stings.

It's OK for you to make mistakes,
Learning from them is what shapes you.
It's OK to ask someone for their help,
You don't always have to make do.

It's OK to wonder, 'Am I alone?',

Although someone else will feel the same.
It's OK to feel like you're really quite lost,
You're only human and you're not to blame.

Whilst I am no poet, I felt very strongly about writing this, especially from the perspective of a confused, mid-twenties woman, who suffers from existential crises more often that she'd like to admit, but that's OK.
