Bonfires and Fireworks

This year I shared a little back garden Guy Fawkes celebration with Kyle and my family.

We had tasty food including hot dogs and a delicious toffee apple cake that my mom made (very similar to this recipe but without the cream), a small bonfire, sparklers and fireworks.  It was so lovely and relaxing and just what I needed after a very busy week of work, even though we had to keep running to shelter in the shed from the intermittent rain showers!
I've always been fascinated by the colours created by fireworks and these roman candles were especially beautiful.  I loved that because I was able to get closer to them, I could see the smoke highlighted by reds, blues, purples and greens.  Set on the black background, they reminded me of images of galaxies and nebulae.
I love bonfire night and this occasion was no exception; it really was a beautiful night and was so nice to share it with my nearest and dearest.  If you celebrated too, I hope you had a wonderful time.

  1. Ah you can't beat huddling together watching fireworks lighting up the sky with friends and family! Christmas next!

  2. Sounds like you had a really lovely evening. These photos are all gorgeous! I didn't see any fireworks at all, as I was too exhausted after a full day of uni and work, but oh well.

    1. Thanks Mimmi! Oh that's a shame, I think my neighbourhood got a little carried away seeing as I still hear fireworks on and off :/ x

  3. These photos are spectacular. I have a fascination with fireworks, too!
