Contemplative Ramblings

The time when it is not quite spring, but when those little hints that it is not too far away appear, even if for a moment, are some of my favourites.  When you can just about feel the warmth from the sun as it heats your limbs despite the bite from the wintry winds.

On one such day I made a conscious effort not to waste the sunshine and packed Doug and myself into the car and headed out to Burbage to walk along the path that snaked along one side of the beautiful valley.

This walk in the glorious sun gave me not just a wonderful view, but some time to reflect on how my life has changed somewhat over the past two months.
This little scrap of a pup has given me so much happiness and I am totally and utterly smitten with him.  What I didn't expect however, was that in having responsibility for him, I've started to take more responsibility for myself.

Now let me explain.

I'm the world's biggest procrastinator and always get distracted when I try to focus on projects or whatever really. What having Doug has done is given me a routine and a fixed point in my life that I can't get distracted from.  This has had a ripple effect on everything else, I'm blogging more regularly, I'm actually sticking to a gym schedule and I'm more organised, focused and motivated with my illustration and photography work.

There is still room for improvement, but everything is slowly getting better bit by bit.
Now I don't know whether it was just the nice weather and gorgeous scenery which got me in such a contemplative mood, but I'm glad of it nonetheless, despite the faint odour of sentimentality.

This year it is like a switch has finally been pushed and I'm starting to do all of the things I've tried to do up until now. So thanks little pup, for making me a better person.

  1. That is so lovely. I really think having a dog in your life can change you. Our dog died about a year ago and I really want another one, but it's so damn difficult to search for one. Where should you even start?

    1. Oh I'm so sorry to hear that! I know what you mean :( I hope you get to have another eventually x

  2. Awwww this is the sweetest. And that last shot of Doug is epic. xx I'm so glad that it's helping you get everything together. So sweet x

  3. This quote 'The time when it is not quite spring, but when those little hints that it is not too far away appear, even if for a moment, are some of my favourites' is so accurate of how I have been feeling the past couple of days, it is like you have taken my thoughts and written them perfectly. Now the sun is making an appearance I have been feeling so nostalgic, dreaming about summer!

PS your dog is so cute! L x

    1. Aw that's so nice! I'm yearning for more frequent sunny days and warmth so much! Thank you :) x

  4. These photos are BEAUTIFUL, so so beautiful!!! And the last one of Doug? So damned sweet. I'm glad things are moving in the right direction for you too. This time of year is my all tome favourite. There's still plenty of time to snuggle up with candles come early evening, but days spent of crisp 'almost end of Winter/peepings of early Spring' are the most rejuvenating kind xxxx
